The Long Run
Today the first two of my spam commenters in line to have their posts deleted posed an interesting question.
“What is it,” they asked, “that one needs most in the long run?”
I thought about it for a while. I decided that (philosophers though they were) the answer was most likely not the one they provided, which was videos of young teens having sex. I considered love, money, and fame, mostly in that order. I considered memory, hope, and belief, again mostly in that order. Then I got specific, and considered coffee, ice cream, and nasi lemak. Everything important seemed to falter against this question of “the long run.” How can I know, I wondered, if I am still here at the beginning and the distance behind me is so short? (More importantly, how can I know if I get winded after two minutes of easy jogging?)
And so, I decided, the only thing I could really do was adopt a wait-and-see attitude to the whole thing, and in the meantime, take running lessons from horses.

i find that horse picture very elegantly comical… and i had the best nasi lemak i’ve ever eaten last week. I should freeze dry it and send it to you guys.

What a lovely post! Thanks Meera from waxing poetic on spam. And although I probably cannot eat nor pronounce nasi lemak, I wonder whether it is really higher on your list than pork floss.

“Wait and see attitude” is a good philosophy. Your post reminded me of Paul Simon’s song “Sip Sliding Away”.
Jenn, take it from me, pork floss is definitely more superior! However, Vijay will strongly oppose and say otherwise.

Sorry, it is “slip” and not “sip”, but I guess “sip” will do just as well, ha! ha!

Oh what the heck — wine, good wine, great wine, more wine, with friends (but not necessarily in that order)

I’m glad you all enjoyed this post, because Michael was all like, “I liked your post! Although the end with something about running lessons from a horse… wha?”
And I said “Sometimes I don’t know how to end my post, and I wanted to put that picture there. Heh.”
Don’t they already serve Nasi Lemak with pork floss sometimes? Or maybe that is only in my dreams.
