Work-Free Day

the way out is through

Thus it was declared, thus it began, so it continued, and so shall it end. We hope you are as warm, fed, and comfortable tonight as we are. And on this day of thanks (dubious though its origins are) we are grateful, above all, for you whom we love.

Beautiful and serene. It brings to mind William Wordsworth poem, “Daffodils”.

Our day of thanksgiving was ending when yours started. After a very snap decision after dinner, by Gabriel, to watch a movie, we, Sheila Gabe and I, rushed to the cinema and watched, “The Kingdom”. In this movie we were shown how Uncle Sam always gets things done right. The movie (for “The Kingdom” read Saudi Arabia)ends with the same wonderful blessings from both sides-”don’t worry, we will kill them all”.
It was past midnight when we had a supper of hot ‘Yu Cha Kuay” dipped in warm soya bean milk. It was good and it tasted even better when I reminded myself that supper was part of my research for my book on my life’s pholosophy, “A Thousand and One Way to eat “Yu Cha Kuay”.
After supper, we called Grandma Evelyn,in Boston, to wish her happy thanksgiving. She sounded as if she was right in the room with us and, in my minds eye, looked exactly like when we last saw her at your wedding. She is happy, cheerful and in good health. We then talked to Jack and Mary, in Orlando, and they were also in good spirits and sounded very cheerful although there are concerns with Jack’s health.
By this time it was well past midnight and as I had to work the next morning, we went to bed.

To you, whom we all love.
