A Good Start

In an inspired effort to be as personally productive as our brand new president, I sent out two emails this evening: one inquiring about jazz vocals lessons with a local singer who also teaches, and one inquiring about the possibility of becoming a volunteer bird specimen preparer (a.k.a. amateur taxidermist) at the Field Museum. I may not be able to afford the former, and I am somewhat unqualified for the latter, so I am not holding out high hopes for follow-through—but gosh darn it, if there is one thing I can do extremely well, it is send out emails.

There you go. Congratulations, Mr. President. Congratulations, me. We both deserve cheesecake.

Ooh, I made a doctor’s appointment this morning! Getting things done!

    Do I get cheesecake?

  2. Megan Says:

Congratulations! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the taxidermy works out. This is the second reference to cheesecake I’ve seen (Facebook?) - did you make it? Where is the photographic representation? Posting a photo on Flickr would close the electronic communication loop.

    S: Yes.

M: It was cheesecake from Trader Joe’s. Goodness, one’s public is so demanding.

Taxidermy! Fingers crossed, should be verrrry interesting. As long as they don’t have you making squirrels fishing with overalls on.

I just this second received an email from the collections head, inviting me to come in and talk to him about volunteering. Yay!

I will veto any overalls-wearing specimens.

    Congrats Meera! :)
